Slop Check

What is this?

A Chrome extension that adds an is this slop? button to LinkedIn posts. Click it to see how likely a post is to be AI-written. Checks are shared, so if someone has already checked a post, everyone with the extension can see the result. Profiles also get a badge based on their recently checked posts.

Why?

LinkedIn has a lot of AI-generated posts now. The dead internet theory is the idea that the internet is slowly becoming bots making content for other bots. LinkedIn sometimes feels like it's getting there. The extension is an attempt to slow it down.

How does it work?

Posts are checked using Pangram, an AI-text detector, and the result is shown right on LinkedIn.

Is it reliable?

It's not perfect, but it has very high accuracy for fully AI-generated text. It can be less certain with short posts. Pangram publishes accuracy evaluations. Treat the score as a signal, not proof.

What is Slop, really?

If it's written by a person I like, it's not slop. It might even be art.
